It’s a funny thing that on the hottest nights of the year, you can wake up drenched in sweat—and be freezing cold. But night sweats can happen even when it isn’t warm. They can be brought on by menopause, temporary illness, certain medications, or any number of chronic conditions.
As anyone who has experienced them will know, night sweats can seriously disrupt your sleep. Moisture-wicking sleepwear, however, can help to reduce them. Made from high-tech fabrics, they often actually do a better job of it than breathable fibers such as silk and cotton.
I explained the science behind how these fabrics work in my round-up of moisture-wicking sports bras. To summarize, they actively pull the moisture away from your skin and force it to evaporate. So no more soggy PJs!
Below are six brands that focus on moisture-wicking nightwear. Others exist, but these are some of my favorites:
Daphne Chemise Available in sizes XS-XL via Lusomé Marilyn Sleepshirt Available in sizes XS-XL via LusoméLusomé
The founder of Lusomé, Lara Smith, created this anti-night-sweat nightwear while her sister was undergoing cancer treatment. The brand is based in Canada and uses exclusive Xireotex™ technology. It claims to draw sweat and bacteria away from the skin ten times faster than its competitors. You’ll like to know that Lusomé also regularly donates care packages that include its sleepwear to women’s shelters.
Cool Jams
US-based Cool Jams uses an exclusive poly microfiber fabric for its sleepwear range. Testing has shown it to dry four times faster than cotton or poly-cotton. The material was initially developed for the Canadian armed forces!
Long Sleeve Top & Pants Available in sizes XS-2X via Dagsmejan Sleepshirt Available in sizes S-2X via DagsmejanDagsmejan
Designed and produced in Europe, Dagsmejan is a brand based on science. It has used laboratory testing to pick optimal fiber content and knitting techniques. The resulting Nattwarm™ fabric is primarily made from Marino wool and Tencel from eucalyptus. The entire production process is also OEKO-TEX® certified to ensure it’s non-harmful for both you and the environment.
Dawn Nightgown Available in sizes S-XL via Haralee Christy Capri Pants Set Available in sizes S-2X via HaraleeHaralee
Haralee Weintraub founded her eponymous, US-based label after a breast cancer diagnosis. She could find moisture-wicking sportswear, but nothing in which she could sleep. The line is made primarily from fabric that’s also treated with Chito Santé, a certified environmentally-friendly antimicrobial. Haralee donates a portion from every sale to breast cancer research.
Three Quarter Sleeve Gown With Ruffle Available in sizes S/M-2X via Good Nighties Scoop Neck Top & Ankle Length Pant With Ruffled Bottom Available in sizes XS-3X (top) and XS-2X (bottoms) via Good NightiesGood Nighties
Good Nighties is designed and made in the USA. The founders were a wife with night sweats and a husband who, luckily, happened to be a performance sports apparel manufacturer. Together they created a fabric that’s moisture-wicking and ultra-soft. It also has a 4-way stretch for optimal fit and comfort.
Chemise With Adjustable Straps Available in sizes S-3X via Wild Bleu Chiffon V-Tank & Tulip Hem Capri Available in sizes M-3X (top) & S-3X (bottoms) via Wild BleuWild Bleu
Wild Bleu is a Canadian brand that uses Heat Release Technology™ fabric. It was initially designed to keep marathon runners cool. The runners were sleeping in their T-shirts because nothing else kept them as dry. And so the Wild Bleu sleepwear brand was born!

Whatever moisture-wicking sleepwear you choose, there are a couple of good points to remember. One must always wash it without fabric softener. It clogs up the fabric’s pores, reducing its effectiveness. The other is that your wicking sleepwear is only as good as your bedding. You’ll still sweat if you’re laying on cheap polyester sheets!
