What lingerie fashions might you find in stores this Fall?
After walking the aisles of New York's Javits Center for two days during the Curvexpo Lingerie & Swim tradeshow, I can sum up FW2016 lingerie trends in one sentence: work is play, and play is work.
What do I mean? Athleisure styles continue to dominate brand designs. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, its a made up word to refer to workout clothes designed for everyday wear. (I'm in yoga pants as I write this and have no plans to attend class today.)

Intimate apparel lines continue to blur lines between inner and outerwear. Individual comfort comes first, whether in cuts, fabrics, and styling. Even shapewear is getting into the act by making some pieces more wearable or layer-able (see my post on newer brands at the show). Nursing bras and maternity loungewear aren't new to this movement. Now you might find bridal wear joining the club.
On the flip side, bedroom and lounging around gowns and robes are getting the glamour treatment. Exquisite detailing (work) can be found on styles often reserved for your eyes only. There might be fancy embellishments on bras, silk robes or negligees, or something even sexier for the boudoir. It's all about luxury, whether you share that alone or with someone else.
I didn't make it to every exhibitor booth but still caught many FW2016 lingerie trends:
Bras you show off, front or back. I love the beautiful bra straps and backs of the past few seasons. Now the attention faces forward. Watch for more removable harnesses, lace necklaces, and plenty of strappy details (including KissKill and Fleur of England, not photographed). This versatility lets you create more than one look, depending on the outfit or your mood.

Many could easily double as layering or outerwear pieces.
